Goofs: Continuity: The size of the mother ship is incompatible in different shots. When it arrives it’s behind the mountain and a lot bigger than the mountain. When it’s in front of the mountain it’s no longer bigger than the mountain but smaller or at best about the same.

“Three misfit parapsychology professors are booted out of their cushy jobs at New York City’s Columbia University. Despite their relative lack of funding, they start an enterprise called Ghostbusters, a spectral investigation and removal service. “Reed Richards, a brilliant but timid and bankrupt scientist, is convinced that evolution can be triggered by clouds of cosmic energy, and has calculated that Earth is going to pass one of these clouds soon. Together with his friend and partner, the gruff yet gentle astronaut muscle-man Ben Grimm, Reed convinces his conceited MIT classmate Dr. Victor Von Doom, now CEO of his own enterprise, to allow him access to his privately-owned space station. Von Doom agrees in exchange for control over the experiment and a majority of the profits from whatever benefits it brings. He thus brings aboard Susan Storm, his shy, though assertive chief genetics researcher and a former lover of Reed’s with whom she had an acrimonious break-up, and her diametrically opposed brother Johnny, the maverick and hot-headed playboy pilot. Trivia: The film was shot in 2.35:1 anamorphic Panavision, which is director of photography Daniel Mindel’s preferred format (he shot J.J. Abrams’ previous film, Mission: Impossible III (2006), in Panavision as well). To take full advantage of the format, Mindel caught as many lens flares (a photographic effect where light sparkles everywhere) in the film as possible, to create a sense of wonder that enhanced the film: “There’s something about these flares, especially in a movie that potentially could be incredibly sterile and overly controlled by CGI, that’s just incredibly unpredictable and gorgeous.” He would create flares by shining a flashlight or pointing a mirror at the camera lens, or using two cameras (and therefore two lighting set-ups) simultaneously.

Goofs: Factual errors: Towards the films climax the Enterprise is seen warping into the rings of Saturn for cover from the Romulan ship. Although previous studies concluded the rings of Saturn were over a kilometer thick, recent studies have shown that the rings are in fact between 10 and 30 meters thick. Which would make disguising the appearance of the 725 meter star ship unlikely.

Trivia: Originally, Liev Schreiber was given a muscle suit to wear for his role as Victor Creed, in an effort to make his physique look comparable to Hugh Jackman’s 220lb figure. The suit, similar to that worn by Vinnie Jones in X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), made Schreiber feel “humiliated.” Schreiber then requested he be given a chance to gain real muscle by putting work in the gym and changing his diet. He trained for 3 months while on the set of Defiance (2008) in Lithuania, and eventually trained with Jackman on the set of X-Men Origins: Wolverine in Australia. Jackman also got Schreiber to alter his diet further by adding a great deal of protein which Schreiber called “The genocide of chickens.” In the end Schreiber gained 35 lbs and had to buy several new suits due to his back gaining several inches in width. “I can’t fit into my favorite suit now! But I felt like I owed it to the genre to be big.”

Goofs: Plot holes: In the x-rays of Wolverine in X-Men (2000), you can clearly see springs that make his claws work, and his claws have 3 holes. In X2 (2003), William Stryker says he was the one who gave Wolverine his claws (”You are an animal – all I did was give you claws”), making it clear that his movie version had no natural claws but were the result of the weapon X experiments. However, in this movie they show a version of Wolverine that has bone claws (like in the comic book) making his claws part of his mutation rather than an implant.
